1.Hamburg Ballet - familiar, but new
The 2024/25 season is a very special one for the Hamburg Ballet: After John Neumeier held the directorship for 51 years and made the Hamburg Ballet world-famous, the German-Argentinean Demis Volpi is now taking over. To kick off the season, he presents ‘The Times Are Racing’, a multi-part ballet evening with works by Pina Bausch, Hans van Manen, Demis Volpi and Justin Peck that spans the last 50 years of dance history. After the premiere on 28 September 2024, the production will be performed six more times in October 2024 at the Hamburg State Opera.

It is Hamburg's landmark: the Elbphilharmonie concert hall. The 2024/2025 season will also bring artistic highlights and big names to the Elbe. Of course, works by Arnold Schönberg and Anton Bruckner are also on the programme to mark the anniversary years. For example, former Hamburg General Music Director Ingo Metzmacher will be conducting the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra on 9 November 2024, conducting Bruckner's first mass and Schönberg's unfinished oratorio ‘Die Jakobsleiter’ in the Great Hall.
