Welcome to the circus of the future

Sustainable Hotel Villa Viva in Hamburg

It was probably the new Hamburg hotel opening of the year 2023: The doors of Villa Viva are now open to guests. A house that builds fountains is the name of the new social business of the Hamburg-based Viva con Agua foundation. And this slogan immediately shows how closely the hotel is linked to the foundation's goals. Here, guests can do good while they sleep. Fancy giving it a try? Click here to book.

A little bit different: this is Villa Viva

In the centre of the Münzviertel district, not far from Hamburg's main railway station, the Villa Viva extends over 12.5 floors. It has everything that a hotel should have, just a little differently. A classic with a twist, you could say. Because Villa Viva is intended to be a place where people can meet and socialise with other people. ‘For us, it's a place of togetherness,’ says Benny Adrion, founder of Viva von Agua and therefore also in charge of Villa Viva.

Camping or suite? Villa Viva makes it possible

The classic dorms have been replaced by the Camping Ground at Villa Viva. There are four pods per camping area, which are completely separate from each other and can be locked individually. There are two bathrooms and an extra toilet for every four pods! Camping in the city. In general, most of the rooms in the sustainable hotel are rather cosy, the double rooms are 9 and 11 square metres in size, there are also a few barrier-free, wheelchair-accessible rooms that are a little more spacious. Some rooms and the two suites have a view of Hamburg harbour. But in Villa Viva you are generally close to the action.

Einchecken im Zirkus der Zukunft

Every visitor passes by the magic kiosk - the reception desk at Villa Viva, which is staffed day and night and attends to the needs of guests and visitors. The ground floor is also home to the in-house restaurant, the Villa Cantina, which serves the main meals of the day and has a small but excellent menu. When selecting ingredients, care is taken to use organic and locally sourced products wherever possible. As in the entire Villa Viva, not only hotel guests are welcome here, the lunch menu is also explicitly aimed at those working and living in the neighbourhood and can also be taken away.

Here they let you dance around on their heads

The RoofDrop Bar is located at the very top, above the rooftops of the city with a view of Hamburg harbour. ‘This is where music and people mingle and the horizon expands,’ says Villa Viva. The ideas for the bar are diverse: parties, concerts, cultural events, many things are conceivable. The drinks menu has already been finalised and promises fun-filled evenings. The non-alcoholic drinks are also sophisticated and off the beaten track, such as the ‘Roses Julep’ made with no bourbon, cranberry, rosemary and soda. Cheers!

The social business

67 per cent of the shares in Villa Viva Holding are held by the non-profit organisations Viva con Agua Stiftung and Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V., to which at least 40 per cent of all profits from Villa Viva will ultimately flow. The two non-profit organisations did not use their own donations for the construction, but received the money from a pot of 19 private investors. And so, in the end, the circle closes and the mission to give everyone access to clean water receives further support!
