The early bird catches the worm Hamburg for early risers
For the early birds among us, there is plenty to discover in Hamburg early in the morning, without the crowds. The best way to start the day is with a quiet morning at the hotel buffet, which is of course not yet so full. Immediately afterwards, you can take a trip to the water in the fresh morning air, for example to the Alster lake and enjoy the tranquillity there. This makes it easy to take atmospheric and expressive photos, as there are naturally far fewer people out and about.
For extreme early risers, so-called larks, we recommend going directly to the Stintfang at the harbour first, from where you can best observe the sunrise at the harbour. Visits to the planetarium or Miniatur Wunderland are also worthwhile. The best way to get there is by public transport, which is of course less crowded early in the morning at the weekend. Top tip from the locals: Cross the Elbe river on the harbour ferries in the morning with the commuters and enjoy the view from the water.
1.From 5 a.m. in summer and 7 a.m. in winter: Hamburg fish market
The classic for all those who get up early (or stay up very late): Going to the fish market in the morning is simply part of the Hamburg experience. Here you can take in the hustle and bustle and the calls of the market criers while enjoying a really fresh fish sandwich and watching the sunrise at the harbour.

Hamburg's largest balcony is the 360-degree plaza of the Elbphilharmonie, which is open daily and can be visited free of charge. At a height of 37 metres, you have a great view of the port of Hamburg. It can get windy up there, so we recommend not forgetting your jacket.
