Destination Hamburg: accessible travel by car
Hamburg is also a significant hub when it comes to road transport. The city is well connected to destinations all over Germany and can be reached directly via four motorways and six federal roads.
The most comfortable and individual way of getting to Hamburg is probably to use the motorway. Taking a car is the right choice for those who aren’t put off by the thought of traffic jams and who do not wish to compromise on flexibility while in Hamburg.
The following motorways can be used to reach Hamburg:
- The A1 runs directly to Hamburg from the west of Germany.
- The A7 goes from the south of Germany right through the middle of the country and passes Hamburg along the way.
- The A23 goes directly to Hamburg from North Sea coast.
- The A24 is the right motorway to take for anyone travelling from Berlin.
Hotel parking
Most hotels in Hamburg provide parking spaces for guests with reduced mobility, subject to a fee. Please contact your chosen hotel directly to enquire about availability.
Car parks
There are plenty of car parks with disabled parking spaces in the city centre and the City of Hamburg provides a map showing all public car parks on its website.
Public disabled parking spaces
The City of Hamburg has a list of disabled parking spaces (only in German unfortunately) located in public areas on its website. When using a disabled space, please observe the regulations on parking concessions and display your parking permit clearly in the car.
